a wrecking ball swings at the end of a 12.0 m cabelon vertical circular arc. the crane operator manages to give the ball a speed of 5.0 m/s as the ball passes through the lowest point of its swing, and then gives the ball no further assistance . friction and air resistance are negleigable . what speed Vf does the ball have when the cable makes an angel of 20deg with respect to the vertical?

where E0 is the kinetic energy of the ball at the lowest point of it’s swing at velocity (v0)
E1 is the kinetic energy when the cable makes an angel of 20deg with the vertical at velocity (v1)
Ww is the work done on the ball by the force of it’s weight (w) between the points 1 and 2
(1/2).m.v1^2 – (1/2).m.v0^2 = m.g.h
where h is the vertical displacement of the ball h=L.(1-cos(theta))
L is the length of the cable , theta is the angle between the two points (1 and 2)

after fixing and isolating v1 =>
v1 = ( 2.g.L.(1-cos(theta)) – v0^2 ) ^ 1/2
