In The World Of Graphic Design
A brolly in one hand and an attach case in another, a male silhouette facing backwards can be seen in the print, he is wearing a trench coat and a bowler hat. He is enigmatic and ambiguous which is wholly appropriate. It is this image that one corporation is making use of to tell people about itself.
For this new corporation, the vice president and general manager mentioned how it is his photo that is sparking this interest in people and that they meant to use the image to be one of the competing forces in Canadian businesses. Architecture in the late ’70s had this strong belief that there is nothing wrong with the way people extensively market certain things upon their liking.
People used to believe in the power of art for the sake of art but this notion has since been revamped and people are now seeing more opportunities when it comes on how to use art for their advantage. A multitude of purposes can be associated with art. Motor mouthed businessmen, filling their own sails for their mercantile odyssey, but reinforcing their claims with some of the most vivid, trenchant graphic art produced in Winnipeg today.
Taking pictures was the pastime for these two partners. You can see their previous pictures now in the form of lithographs, graphic forms, silk screens, metal etchings, and fiber work. When they met in a darkroom, they were both working for a local architectural firm. Commercially speaking, they knew they were a team.
Even with a huge number of sales under their belt, the company that they worked for has not yet been established. For their company, part of their work meant that they needed to head off to a graphics exhibition in Vancouver. Since one of the partners strongly believes in what they can do, he said that he will be glad to shoulder expenses amounting to almost five thousand dollars.
What you can expect from this company is that they will be using more forms of art, graphic, and print than any other competitor in the Winnipeg area. Most of the time, they work on potatoes, not the vegetable though, this simply means that they are working on other endeavors like architectural photography and models, promotional printing, posters, logos, T shirt design, coasters, menus, and matchbook covers. Potatoes are for short term work but their main line of income comes from the custom art that they do for the head and branch offices of corporations, lobbies and rooms of hotel chains, government buildings, trains, and commercial aircrafts.
Offices are decked out with murals or silk screen serigraphs by the partners and this is something that they do other than helping companies with their advertising materials. Yes, they will create custom fine art for your company but they will incorporate graphic design in the execution. It will take a great deal of effort to make it in their chosen field of work which is custom corporate art. They do not simply work on one thing at a time. Money has poured into the business thanks to the work that they have done for various federal and provincial buildings, a huge insurance company, a railroad, hotels, two major Canadian banks, and airline companies.
