Unfraying braided wire cable & crunching ferrule?
It’s 3/32″ thick braided wire cable. The end has frayed and I can’t guide it through a narrow metal ferrule (the ferrule is used to join the cable together at the end to create a loop). Also I tried crunching the ferrule onto the cable with channel locks (before the cable frayed) and I couldn’t do it.
My project is replacing the snapped cable on the overhead garage door and I’m stuck for now. The torsion spring is in good shape.
Ideas? Thanks.
Use a wire nut instead of the ferrule.
