A Garden Patio For Your Soul
After a busy day spent on work, you mind needs to unwind to something relaxing. The idea of coming home to a traditional patio backyard complete with fishpond is something very ideal.
It could well be your private natural paradise equipped with uniquely designed patio furniture set to blend subtly with the overall ambiance of the garden; perhaps one with an tropical garden look complete with a teak furniture or two. Or one could go for a more modern, concrete architecture, blending mortar and natural rocks to create a mini waterfall, with its cascading waters flowing into a pond.
Whatever you decide to do for your garden, you can be sure that the perfect end result would require a great deal of effort. A beautiful garden would certainly increase the value of your home however; it is the quiet moment that is soothing to the soul is what gives a beautiful garden its priceless value.
Even starting from scratch, a keen do-it-yourself enthusiasts (with a whole lot time on his hands and an equally hefty amount of patience) could easily conjure magic in about a year’s time, but be ready to get down and dirty to be able to reap the benefit of seeing your patio blossom into a sub-urban paradise. The process of creating in itself is highly rewarding, but do have a blueprint at hand so that you do not have to second guess the detailing of your patio garden.
When embarking on a project for the first time, it is ideal if you have someone to guide you. Who knows more about gardens than gardener? Take care that you do not over plant the bigger trees as it is a garden we are creating and not a shrubbery, and especially not a miniature forest.
If you do opt for the tropical look, one could not go wrong with teak patio furniture as they could withstand the rigors of extreme weather changes and at the same time, maintaining its beauty and shine of an expensively maintained item. A teak pergola may be expensive, but it is a worthy investment as it would give your backyard the character it needs. An unlike a concrete structure, the pergola can easily be moved about if, for one reason or another, you get tired of the way your garden looks.
Using wood has its disadvantage in a sense that it is less pliant. It is what you bought and there is little that you can do to change it so that it fulfills your need. The plus point of wood is that there is not much debris to anticipate so it does not pose much of a threat to the whole outlook of your garden.
Patio umbrellas are good for the preliminary stage where you need to protect the infant plants from the sun. However, after the plants have fully developed and are able to provide you with the shade, you can then rid the patio umbrella. However, if you have a wooden umbrella, it will surely be a great décor for the garden as it will be stylish and provide you the protection should you need to stay out in the hot or drizzly days to care for your plants.
Should you go for outdoor heaters in your garden patio? If you must, do so, however, it is best that you let nature be the decisive factor in providing the necessary temperature changes required for the plants. The idea of having one must be for being able to enjoy your backyard no matter the season, but it does defeat the purpose of having a natural garden in the first place.
Heaters should be included ideally during the planning stage and it should be in the blueprint so that you are sure of their position and their function after the garden is complete.
Can it ever be complete? yes it would, but it will never be the end. That, I believe, is the simple unending joy of having one’s own garden that it would grow with you; just like nurturing your children, but minus the tantrums – well, at a much lesser level, that is! – and watching them blossomed and mature as we age gracefully.
