Variety in Types of Fridges Offer Flexibility and Reliability
Refrigerators or fridges are common household appliances that people have been relying on for a very long time because they help to preserve the freshness of many foods and provide a required cool space for perishable foods that must be kept at a certain cool temperature. Many years ago, the best way to keep things from spoiling was to store them in an icebox, which was an assembly that was basically fashioned with a compartment for a block of ice. Fortunately, as times changes, new developments were made and the creative process expanded on what constituted as these fridges. Today, the commercial and domestic types of fridges on the market offer flexibility, variety and energy saving options designed to suit virtually every need for a space to keep things cold and refrigerated.
For the small space that will not house a standards sized unit, there are small fridges which are sometimes call apartment units. These fridges have a neat freezer compartment and two shelves inside as well as some storage space in the door. The units are perfect for a dorm room or studio apartment where space is at a premium but there is a need for refrigeration. These units are also great for use in a temporary setting such as a camping trip over the summer at a lodge to keep just enough items for one or two people to use.
Commercial fridges are almost a complete class by themselves because there are units as large as some buildings, which are necessary to meet the demands of hotels, motels, restaurants and other institutions that have large quantities of perishable food products that must be kept cold. These professional grade versions of fridges have been on the market for more than 30 years and are a necessary product used in the commercial industry by many different businesses.
Domestic or residential fridges are those used by people in their homes and offices to achieve some of the same objectives of the commercial fridges except on a smaller scale. There are several different styles of fridges that have come into existence over the years. Earlier more traditional styles include the traditional one with a freezer on the upper portion and fridge on the bottom. This design was upgraded when the side by side style was introduced. These fridges were most common with the refrigerator on the right side and the freezer on the left. The next design that would emerge by the late 60s would be the fridges with the freezer at the bottom and fridge on the top.
The 90s represented the introduction of yet another style of fridges that would become popular and desire and that is the French door style with a freezer located on the bottom and refrigerator on the top; both with French doors. So today, there are many different types and styles of fridges that made the choices even more expansive and with energy efficiency rolled in to boot, it is very possible to choose the type of fridge that suits your kitchen décor perfectly even for those choices that involve fridges that have doors to match existing cabinetry.
