Galvanized Steel Banding Straps and Its Application
Galvanized steel banding strap is utilized to make buildings much stronger and support parts of the structure. This metal product is made of specialized stainless steel coated with zinc that can withstand heavy workloads and resist corrosion and wear and tear.
As its name suggests, this kind of banding is manufactured through galvanization process. Galvanizing stainless steel is a chemical process that protects the metal from further corrosion. Typically, the metal is coated with a thin layer of another metal, which then protects the metal from corroding.
In the late eighteenth century, Luigi Galvani came up with this process involving electricity, hence the term galvanization. Galvanization roots from the word galvanism, which refers to the experiment he had conducted of sending electrical charges through dissected frog’s legs, which rendered it to move, proving that nerve signals are minute electrical sparks. This farfetched experimentation soon became a stepping stone to the actual galvanization process of metals.
Galvanized stainless steel is typically coated with zinc covering for more resistance to metal weathering, whether it is used for stainless steel band purposes or not. While zinc is more commonly used as a coating, copper can also be used as to substitute the primary galvanizing metal. The metal used to coat the core metal can be of any type as long as it resists corrosion.
Another term for galvanized stainless steel banding strap is electroplated stainless steel banding strap. Galvanized stainless steel is much stronger than regular stainless steel. Buyers can test out if the banding strap is made of galvanized stainless steel by using a magnet. Ordinary stainless steel does not react to magnets, while and electroplated stainless still can easily be magnetized.
Most of stainless steel manufacturers and distributors specialize in supplying stainless steel band straps to the industries needing them. These metal accessories can be bought in terms of pieces. If looking for galvanized stainless steel banding strap, the buyer should always bear in mind that they are practically useless without galvanized steel strapping seals as the seal connects the banding to the item or the wall that needs to be reinforced.
