Aberdare Park an African Spectacle
The Aberdare National Park is located 338 kilometres from the Capital city of Kenya, Nairobi.The Park is part of Aberdare mountains ranges and is characterized by moderate Temperatures.The national park consists of Hippos, Elephants, Rhinos, Buffalos, Monkeys, Mongoose, Zebras, and crocodiles among other wildlife species. Its geographical features are forests, deep valleys waterfalls and streams. The game within the park is a sight to behold and provides a very enjoyable game drive view.
Aberdare National Park is famous for its tree-house hotels – Treetops and The Ark. With walkways and accommodation raised into the forest canopy, you can watch animals from a unique vantage point. The Ark tree-lodge is uniquely shaped to resemble the actual Ark as describe in the Holy bible. It is designed with decks from which numerous balconies and lounges provide superb vantage points for viewing the animals visiting the salt-lick and waterhole. The ability to view the wild animals from a top angle at The Ark lodge is an amazing phenomenon. Positioned by waterholes and natural salt licks, animals provide constant entertainment and seem undisturbed by the stream of curious visitors, some of whom stay up all night to catch sightings of shy animals by floodlight. There is even a viewing hide dug below ground with windows level with the waterhole, where elephants fee come within inches of your face.
Game drives or walks through the forest may reveal some of the monkeys for whom this is ideal habitat, and some of the many birds found here. At about 10,000 feet (3,048m), the bamboo thickets are the favorite haunt of the bongo, a rare and elusive forest antelope. There are different activities that can one do including, swimming, golf playing, safari walks and horse riding, while at the park. The park also offers transportation means within the park.
