Pathe O’ at last!
It has been over three years now that the opening of this Pathé O’ boutique has been announced, right next to the great designer’s main fashion house in Abidjan, Treichville, avenue 19, street 22. And now, it is done and inaugurated with guests who were able to check out 200 square meters of space spread out over two floors. For this newest boutique, there are a lot of space, a lot of light and a very logical division of sections for the Pathé O’ lines. The men’s collection is in part presented on the ground floor and in the basement with an individual entrance. The first floor gives you a very large vision of the women’s collection.
Pathé O’ has distinguished himself as a force in the fashion world since he launched his eponymous designer brand of clothing in 1987, the year that consecrated him “Ciseau D’Or”. Receiving that important recognition had totally changed Pathé Ouédraogo, the poor young man who came from Burkina Faso, into Pathé O’, the emergent designer and talented couturier.
Pathé’s clothing collections are known for their unique style, craftsmanship and dramatic colors. His precision and daring technique have helped him to become known as one of the top African designers and couturiers around the globe. The particularity with him is that he only works on African materials, among which are the printed loincloths, the woven clothes (called Baule Kita, Faso Dan Fani…), the Mauritanian veil, the Malian and Senegalese dimity, the indigo…
The couturier’s designs are complemented by his study of men’s and women’s fashions from several countries, which has enabled him to create unique designs that are appreciated at home and abroad. His clothing is among the few that sport a “Made in Ivory Coast” tag.
To immerge oneself in the world of Pathé O’, what a dream…we already dream by the way in wearing the same cloth as Nelson Mandela or the former President in Mali, Alpha Konaré. Pathé O’, who defined himself as “Someone who came to fashion by necessity” is today a wealthy man of 60 year-old with several children and friends among the greatest people. He remains humble because he never forgets the time he was a homeless person and a hungry man.
For this latest boutique, dedicated to his parents, Pathé has made a considerable donation to the poor.
